About the Project
PDP facilitated the development of a new strategic plan for the iconic Busselton Jetty Swim in partnership with the organisations volunteer committee - Busselton Allsports Incorporated.
The Busselton Jetty Swim is an iconic swim held annually each year in the picturesque south west town of Busselton in Western Australia. The event has grown significantly in recent years with close to 4000 people participating in several different events with the feature event being the 3.6km round jetty swim. The volunteer committee, supported by a part-time event manager required support to develop a new strategy which would set the future direction of the event.
PDP conducted a strategic planning process with the committee over a 6 month period, with a focus on clarifying the organisations purpose (why they run the event) and how the organisation could sustainably manage future growth bearing in mind the largely volunteer nature of the organsiation. Several years worth of participant surveys were evaluted which helped identify motivators for people to do the event which was valuable in helping to consolidate the values of the event.
Accompanying the final plan was an accompanying implementation plan which provided a road map to progress the key initiatives as well as a proposed governance model to help the committee manage ensure the long term sustainability of the event for the benefit of the Busselton community.
