About the Project
PDP undertook an extensive consultation and engagement process across various sectors to lead the development of Our Bike Path 2022-2026 which sets a strategic framework for cycling in WA.
Our Bike Path sets out an agenda of strategic priorities for all organisations and individuals involved in cycling and provides a guiding framework and vision for the bike riding community in Western Australia. This project was conducted over a 12 month period and required considerable community consultation and engagement with a variety of key stakeholders and government agencies.
One of the challenges in developing Our Bike Path was bringing together quite separate and distinct elements of the cycling community such as competitive / sport cycling, cycling for participation and recreation, and cycling for transport together into a common framework. The resulting framework established a common vision for cycling (Bike riding is embraced by the WA community as a way of life) and identified eight priorities which provided a common thread across each aspect of the cycling community. The framework also identified six Core Principles to be adopted by the bike riding community in order for success to be achieved.
